The NUSTART system will allow up to three remotes to be programmed to one  
vehicle. Please perform the following procedure to add or reprogram additional  
remotes.  
Nu1000R is a One Way AM 4ButtonRemote.

Step1: Activate Valet/ Programming mode by manually  
turning the ignition on and off five times(between Acc and  
On) with the key within a 7 second period.  
The parking lights will flash once with successful completion of  
this step.  
Note :If you lose your remote after you have armed the vehicle, use your key  
to open the door. The siren will go off. Turn the ignition on then off,  
5 times with your key to shut down the alarm and put the system into  
valet mode. You can cancel the valet mode with a remote later on.  
See : Valet mode,on page 10.  
Step2 : Within a 7 second period after cycling the ignition for the 5thtime,  
Note: Siren duration is 30 to 60 seconds depending on the options set at the  
time of initial installation.

once to confirm that the transmitter has been programmed. You can  
continue programming additional remotes. The parking lights will  
flash two times when the programming mode has expired.  
Auto - Star t Fun ction

button for 2 seconds to auto-start an automatic transmission  
engine. Remember, that an actual key in the ignition is required to drive the car.  
For manual transmission vehicles, please use reservation mode.

Diagnosing problems with Auto-Start  
If there is a problem in auto-starting your vehicle,the NUSTART system will do one  
of two things; if it fails for any of the reasons listed in the table below, it will flash  
the parkinglights three times then flash the error number. Otherwise, it will attempt  
to start the vehicle three times. If, after three times, the vehicle will not start or stay  
running, the NUSTART system will shut down. In either case, please see your  
istaller to resolve the situation.

When the alarm is armed, the starter kill function (an optional feature provided by  
your installer) is activated. This feature disengages the starter mechanism on your  
vehicle and prevents it from starting, even with a key.

Continuation Mode:(Stopand Go feature)  
Whenthe vehicle shutsoff afterreservationmode, the  
NUSTART systemwillock/arm the vehicle.

While your vehicle is running with your key, press the  
button for 2 seconds,

preset time even if you take your key out of the ignition. You can now lock/arm the  
vehicle if you wish to.  
Your vehicle is now readyforauto-starting. However, the reservation mode wil be  
cancelledif a door or hatch is opened, or ifthe NUSTART systemis put in Valetmode.  
Once cancelled, you wilhave to startthe vehicle with the keyand repeatthe above  
5stepsifyou wantto restore reservation mode.  
Example : For a quick stop when you don’t want to restart the vehicle.  
Anti-grind  
The anti-grind circuit (an optional feature provided by your installer) prevents  
you from engaging the starter on a remote-started vehicle.

Rese rvation Mod e (m a nua l tr ansm issio n only)  
In order toauto-start your manualtransmission vehicle, you mustfirst setthe NUSTART  
system toReservation Mode before leavingyour vehicle. The purpose of Reservation  
Mode is to leave the transmission gear in the neutralpositionwhen you leave your  
vehicle. Reservation mode is intended for use onMANUAL TRANSMISSIONS ONLY  
and NOT FORAUTOMATICTRANSMISSIONS. Reservation Mode mustbe engaged  
each and everytime you leave your manualtransmission vehicle in ordertoauto-start it.  
-Canceling Reservation Mode  
If you donotwant tosetreservationmode, shutoff the engine before you exitthe  
vehicle. The engine willshutoff forthe followingreasons :  
- You didnotactivate the parkingbrake or pressedthe footbrake whenyou turned  
the manualkeytothe off position.  
- You releasedthe parkingbrake while the engine wasrunning.  
- You entered ValetMode afterthe Reservation Mode has beencompleted.  
Note : The systemis notrecommendedfor manualtransmissionvehicles with  
removable or convertible tops.  
Tru nk Release  
- Importantrequirementsto activate Reservation Mode  
- The transmission must be inthe NEUTRAL position.  
- The vehicle windows mustbe roled up.  
- Do notsetthe reservation mode withpeople inthe vehicle.  
Press the  
button until the LED on the remote stops flashing, in order to unlock  
and release your trunk door. If pressing the trunk release button does not release  
the trunk, you will need to release the button and try again, as the remote stops  
transmitting as soon as the LED stops flashing.  
- Do notauto-startthe vehicle with people inside it.  
Note that the trunk release function will not only release the trunk but will unlock the  
all doors as well.  
Activating Reservation Mode

Step1 : Afterarrivingatyour destination, andBEFORE TURNING YOUR  
ENGINE OFF, place the transmission inthe Neutralposition.  
Step2 : Activate the parkingbrake.  
Panic Mod e  
Press the  
willarm, if notarmed already, andthe siren/hornwilactivate andthe parking lights wil flash.  
In order todisengage Panic Mode, press the buttonuntilthe LED stopsflashing.  
Then, press the button for a 1/2 secondtounlock/disarmyourvehicle.

Ifthe Anti-Jackingoptionhas beenprogrammed(askyourdealerifyouwouldlike  
tohavethisoption)andthe Ignition-Kill hasbeeninstaled, the PanicMode works  
asAnti-Jackingifthe keyis inthe ignition. IfAnti-Jackingmode isactivatedwhile key  
isinthe ignition, a)the siren will go off for 1.5 minutes, and b) the Ignition-Kill  
will be activated after the first 30 seconds. This is to give a 30 second warn-  
ing to the hijacker, then to disconnect the ignition to stop the vehicle.  
Safety Shut D ow n Features  
The NUSTART Nu1000R system has several shut down safety features.  
The following actions will shut down the engine or prevent the car from auto-starting  
: Opening the hood, pressing the brake, or if valet mode is turned on.  
OPTIONAL PROGRAMMABLE FEATURES  
These additional features may be programmed to the NUSTART system by your  
authorized NUSTART dealer.  
Valet M ode  
While the vehicle is in valetmode, the onlyfeatures thatwilfunctionwillbe the keyless  
entryandoptionalauxiliaryfunctions.  
In order toenter Valetmode, press the  
second. In order tomanuallyenter Valet Mode, insertyourkeyinto the ignition and turn  
the ignitiononandoff (between ACCandON)five times within7seconds

Ig nitio n Lock  
AutomaticTransmission Vehicles:  
This progammable option wi lautomaticalylockthe vehicle doors once the keyis inthe  
ignitionandthe brake pedalis pressed. The doors willunlockas soonas the keyis  
removed fromthe ignition.  
You can exit Valet Mode only by pressing buttons  
simultaneously for 1/2 second.  
Manual Transmission vehicle:  
This progammable option wilautomaticalylockthe vehicle doors once the keyis inthe  
ignitionandthe brake pedalis pressed. The doors willautomaticallyunlockwhenthe  
emergencybrake is setwhile the vehicle is running withthe key.  
Tim er Start M ode  
Passive Lo cking  
In Timer StartMode, your car automaticallystarts every1.5or 3.0 hours, dependingon  
presetoptions duringthe time ofinstallation, fora 24-hour period. Thismode is cancelled  
automaticallyafter 24hours or once youstartyourvehicle with the keyor remote. Inorder  
Youcan turnthis function on oroff bypressingthe  
second. Whensetto passive locking, yoursystemwilllockautomaticaly, 30 seconds  
after al the doors/hatchhave been closed.

Inthis mode, if the emergencybrake has beenengaged, the engine willcontinue torun  
afterthe keyhas beentakenoutofthe ignition. Itwil rununtiltwominutes after the  
emergencybrake hasbeen set.  
Toutilize this mode, the emergencybrake sensing wire has to be connectedto the  
emergencybrake wire ofthe vehicle. Consult the authorizeddealer for this mode.  
Thisoption is idealforturbo chargedvehicles because itallows the turbo tocool down  
afteroperation.  
Limited Lifetime Consumer Warranty  
Staub Electronics, Ltd. Warrants to the original purchaser that this product shall be free of  
defects in material and workmanship under normal use and circumstances for the period  
of time that the original owner of this product owns the vehicle in which it is installed ;  
except that the remote controller unit for the period of one year from the date of  
installation to the original owner of this product.  
When the original purchaser returns the product to the retail store where it was  
purchased or prepaid postal to Staub Electronics, Ltd., #160 - 11791 Hammersmith Way,  
Richmond, BC V7A 5C6 Staub Electronics, Ltd., will at its option repair or replace such.  
OPTIONALINSTALLATION FEATURES  
The NUSTART Nu1000R remote has additional features and expansion  
possibilities that require additional parts and labor.  
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES  
ARE EXCLUDED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND EACH ENTITY PARTICIPATING  
IN THE STREAM OF COMMERCE THEREWITH.  
THIS EXCLUSION INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, THE EXCLUSION OF ANY  
AND ALL WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND/OR ANY AND ALL WARRANTY  
OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND/OR ANY AND ALL WARRANTY  
OF NON-INFRINGEMENT OR PATENTS, IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA  
AND/OR ABROAD.  
Co ld Start Mo de  
If the optional temperature sensor has been installed, Timer Start Mode becomes  
Cold Start Mode. In this mode, your car automatically starts if the temperature of  
the inside of the vehicle goes below the preset temperature.  
The minimum interval between the starts will be 1.5 or 3.0 hours depending on  
preset options during the time of installation. Cold Start Mode is activated or  
NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER OF ANY ENTITIES CONNECTED THEREWITH  
SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER,  
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCIDENTAL  
DAMAGES, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF TIME, LOSS OF EARNINGS, COMMERCIAL  
LOSS, LOSS OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND THE LIKE. NOTWITHSTANDING  
THE ABOVE, MANUFACTURER DOES OFFER A LIMITED WARRANTY TO REPLACE  
OR REPAIR THE CONTROL MODULE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights,  
which vary State to State.
